It has often been said behind every good man there is a woman. Masonry is no exception to this rule. Often we enlist their assistance when we have to make Phone calls, cook Lodge dinners, and even as chauffers when transportation needs arise. A solid bond occurs between the lodge and our ladies. They are as essential to the lodge as we are.

When the inevitable occurs, we lose not only a Brother, but often a Sister also. After all the festivities are over fear and desolation sets in. Our Sister is often alone and confused. The fellowship she had with other Brothers and Sisters cease. They are now left alone! No one for advice and no one to perform the minor tasks required to keep our home, automobile, and many other things running smoothly.

When we took our oath, we promised to aid and assist all distressed worthy Brothers and their Widows and orphans. In Law Enforcement we had a saying,  Never Let Them Walk Alone.

We as Masons, also should adopt Never Let Them Walk Alone. Sometimes all it takes is a phone call to see how they are doing. Often all they want is some of the contact they had with old friends. Invite them to come down to the Stated Meetings for dinner and some fellowship. They may need some work performed on the automobile or the house. If this work is beyond our expertise we may be able to find someone to perform the task at a reasonable rate. We as Masons have a multitude of pendent bodies available to us. Many of these bodies have funding for just such a case.

Remember these are Widows of our Brothers and
Never let them walk alone!
