The 1st Annual Tucson Masonic & Shriner’s Open hosted by Aaron Lodge #49 and Sabbar Shrine took place Sunday Set. 20th, 2009. What a great turnout for the first year. There were 72 golfers that played in the event. There were Blue Lodge Masons, Shriner’s, Scottish Rite and non-masons all participating. There were many husband and wives, fathers and sons and Masons with friends all out for a perfect day of golf.
The event was hosted at the Arizona National Golf Club which is the training course for the U of A Wildcat Golf Team. This is probably by far the most beautiful course in Tucson. The scoring was set as a modified Masons scramble which gives all members of the foursome a part in the foursome overall score.
There was a lunch buffet after course play followed by a putting shootout and then an awards ceremony. As well as trophies and certificates for all of the winners, the tournament prizes were as follows:
1st place foursome - 4 Day 3 Night Vacation Package to 1 of 25 Destinations for each. 2nd place foursome - 3 Day 2 Night Vacation Package to 1 of 25 Destinations for each. 3rd place foursome - Golf Photo Frames for each. Last place foursome - 4 Day 3 Night Vacation Package to 1 of 25 Destinations for each. Longest Drive Contest - 2 either NBA, NFL, MLB or NHL Tickets. Closest to the Pin Contest - 2 either NBA, NFL, MLB or NHL Tickets. Putting Contest - 5 Day 4 Night Carnival Cruise.
It appeared that all that attended seemed to have a wonderful time and the fellowship alone made the event a hit. Thank you to all that participated and plans are already underway for the 2nd Annual event.
